The Athletic reporter James Mirtle named Russian guard Mikhail Sergachev the Utah Jazz's most valuable player.
The Russian moved to the club in the offseason in a trade with Tampa Bay.
‘Sergachev was always considered a reliable defenceman in Tampa, but behind Victor Hedman and other stars on the forward line, he was often left in the shadows. But not in Salt Lake City. ‘Utah has loaded up Sergachev with the third-highest amount of playing minutes in the NHL right now (26.47 per game), and he's more than taken advantage of that opportunity, with 63% of expected goals when he's on the ice at even strength. These guys have been getting a lot of attention since the start of the season, but Sergachev is their MVP,’ The Athletic quoted the reporter as saying.
