Nick Nurse assessed the severity of Joel Embiid's facial bone fracture.

The "Philadelphia" center suffered a fractured skull bone after accidentally hitting Bennedict Maturin. Based on the results of the examination, Embiid will have to miss this week and be re-evaluated next week.

“The only thing I can compare it to, even though I wasn't here at the time, but Joel has had other fractures that were much worse. It's nowhere near as serious as the last times, from what I'm told.

“I think that's good news because they were pretty severe - those two fractures - and the doctors say it's not as bad now,” the "Sixers" head coach said.

In 2018, Embiid broke his left orbital bone and suffered a concussion when he collided with former teammate Markelle Fultz. The injury sidelined him for the last eight games of the regular season and the first two games of the NBA playoffs.

In April 2022, Embiid was elbowed by Pascal Siakam in Game 6 of the "Philadelphia"-"Toronto" series. The center suffered a fractured right orbital bone, causing him to miss the first two games of the Eastern Conference semifinals.
