"Washington" owner Ted Leonsis picked up his 1,000th win with the club.

The 3-2 victory over "Nashville" was an anniversary for Leonsis, who took over the "Capitals" in 1999. In the "Washington" locker room, team captain Alexander Ovechkin congratulated Leonsis on the anniversary date and handed him the puck from the winning game.

Under Leonsis' work in the club, "Washington" became the owner of the Stanley Cup in 2018, won three President's Trophies for winning regular championships (2010, 2016 and 2017).
Recall, Ovechkin became the author of the winning puck in the match with "Nashville" and extended his goal series to five games. The Russian remains to score 34 goals to surpass Wayne Gretzky in the list of the best snipers in the history of the league.
